Privacy policy

Version 2 · In effect November 1, 2026

The short version.

  • Your jobs, plans, prices and customer details are yours. Other ALDAS users can't see them, and we don't sell or rent anyone's information.
  • Your saved work is stored in Canada.
  • We collect what ALDAS needs to work: your sign-in email, the jobs and price list you save, and the plans you upload.
  • No ads, no tracking cookies and no analytics.
  • If a security problem puts your information at real risk, we tell you.
  • You can delete your account and everything in it from the app at any time. To see, fix or get a copy of what we hold, email contact@upgraid.ca.

Who we are

ALDAS is a flooring takeoff and quoting app made by Upgraid Business Solutions in Kelowna, British Columbia ("we", "us"). This policy covers the ALDAS app, the aldas.ca website and the early access list.

We follow British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act, Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the other Canadian privacy laws that apply to us.

Privacy Officer

Our Privacy Officer is responsible for how ALDAS handles personal information, and answers privacy questions, requests and complaints.

Email: contact@upgraid.ca (put "Privacy" in the subject line)

What we collect, and why

WhatWhy
Early access sign-ups: your email, and if you choose to give them, your trade, your town and whether you want news emailsTo invite you and help you get set up, and to send news only if you ticked that box
Your account: your email and password. The password is stored scrambled (hashed), so nobody can read it, us included. So you can sign in and your work follows you between devices
What you save in ALDAS: jobs, rooms and measurements, customer names, addresses, phone numbers and emails you type in, your price list, business details, settings and logoTo show, calculate, sync and back up your work
Plans you upload: a picture of each plan page, or the lines of a CAD drawingSo the plan is there when you open the job on another device. For a PDF or photo we keep a picture of each page, not the original file. For a CAD drawing (DXF) we keep its lines with the job.
Questions to the built-in assistant: your question, the earlier messages in that chat, and a short note about where you are in the app (which tab is open, whether a plan and scale are set, how many rooms)To answer your question. See The assistant below. We also count how many questions each account asks per day, to keep the assistant from being overused. That count is kept for 30 days.
Technical logs: your IP address, browser and device type, the time of a request and whether it workedTo keep ALDAS running, find problems and protect it from misuse

We don't look at your jobs or customer details unless you ask us to for support, we need to in order to fix a problem or keep ALDAS secure, or the law requires it. We don't use your prices or your customers' information for anything other than running ALDAS for you.

Your customers' information

When you add a customer's name, address, phone number, email, job details or plans to ALDAS, you decide what goes in and what it's for. We store and process it only to run ALDAS for you, the same way your accounting software or email provider does. In privacy terms, you're the organization in control of that information and we're your service provider.

You're responsible for having a good reason to collect your customers' information and for telling them how you handle it, as you would on paper. Our Terms of use set out these promises as part of our agreement with you.

Where your information is stored, and who helps us

Your account, jobs, price list and uploaded plans are stored in Canada, in our database provider's Montreal data centre. A few things are handled outside Canada, as the table shows.

ProviderWhat they doWhere
SupabaseSign-in, the database and plan storageCanada (Montreal)
Email deliveryAccount emails, like password resets. These go through Supabase's email service, or an email delivery provider we name here if we add one.May be outside Canada, usually the United States
CloudflareHosting the app and website, and passing assistant questions alongA worldwide network. Your connection may pass through servers outside Canada.
AnthropicThe AI model that writes the assistant's answersUnited States

These providers handle your information only to provide their service to us, under agreements that require them to protect it. Some of their staff may reach their systems from outside Canada to keep them running. Information handled outside Canada is subject to the laws of that country, and its courts, police and national security agencies may be able to get access to it.

The app and website use no third-party fonts, trackers or analytics, so loading a page doesn't share your details with anyone else.

The assistant

When you ask the built-in assistant a question, we send your question, the earlier messages in that chat and the short note about where you are in the app to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model. We don't send your jobs, prices, plans or customer list.

Anything you type into a question does get sent, so please leave out customer names, addresses and phone numbers. Under its standard terms for business customers, Anthropic doesn't use this information to train its models, and deletes it within 30 days unless it needs to keep it longer to deal with misuse or because the law requires it.

Storage on your device

ALDAS keeps your sign-in and a copy of your work in your browser's storage on your device, so it opens fast and works with no signal. That copy stays on the device until you sign out or clear your browser data. Signing out removes it once everything has uploaded, and you can choose to erase it even if something hasn't. On a shared computer, sign out when you're done, and keep your phone or tablet locked.

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't run ads or analytics. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy first.

Who we share it with

We never sell or rent your information. We share it only:

How long we keep it

Keeping it safe

No system is perfect. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us right away at contact@upgraid.ca if you think someone else has got into your account.

If something goes wrong

If we learn of a security breach that affects your information, we'll act right away to contain it. If it creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we'll tell you as soon as we can and report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and any other regulator that requires it. If it affects your customers' information, we'll tell you without delay and give you the details you need to look after them. We keep a record of every security breach for at least two years.

Your choices and rights

Email contact@upgraid.ca and we'll reply within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we share or change anything. If you're the customer of an installer who uses ALDAS, contact that installer first, since they decide what's kept about you. We'll help them answer.

If you're not happy with how we handle a request or complaint, please tell our Privacy Officer first so we can try to put it right. You can also contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Emails

We only send news and offers if you ticked the box to get them. Every one names us, includes our contact details and has an unsubscribe link, and we act on an unsubscribe within 10 business days. We'll still send emails you need, like password resets and important notices about your account or this policy.

Children

ALDAS is a business tool for adults. You need to be the age of majority where you live to have an account, and we don't knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the version and date at the top and keep earlier versions available on request. For important changes, we'll tell account holders by email or in the app at least 30 days before they take effect. If we ever want to use your information for a new purpose, we'll ask you first.
